How to film unreal skiing content with an Insta360 or GoPro Max.

THE BEST 360 CAM SKI POLE MOUNTS.

Right, so you want to film skiing, but can't be bothered taking extra gear with you? We have designed two mounts that can help make filming that little bit easier.

Here is a quick guide on how to use the mono mount and the quarter mount for filming in the mountains.

Cheat-Sheet:

The Mono mount is best for Insta 360 users looking for an easy filming option, and GoPro Max + Regular GoPro users. Pair with RAV Powder Baskets for the ultimate flexibility.

The 1/4 Mount is best for Insta360 users looking for a direct-mounting solution and a fixed filming angle, designed for skiers taking content creating seriously.

THE ORIGINAL MONO MOUNT.

The OG mount for the top of your pole. This 3-post mount is designed to work with the GoPro standard mounting system. The mono mount is machined from 6061 aluminium billet to make sure it is bomb proof, and can live on your poles. If you want to mount an Insta360 to the Mono Mount, you can use a standard 1/4 inch to GoPro Converter on the bottom of your Insta360.

We recommend removing your ski straps when filming to make sure they don't get in the way [luckily the APOLLO FR has tool-free strap removal].

Why film with a pole?

Filming with a pole, rather than just a camera in your hand has a few huge benefits. By making the camera further away from your body, you will get smoother footage, and more creative angles. As well as this, it helps you get that bit closer to whoever you are filming, and who doesn’t enjoy a juicy follow cam?

Key benefits:

  • Smoother footage
  • More creative angles [high + low perspectives, side views]
  • You can get closer to whoever you are filming
  • Easy group selfies on the chairlift when you’re rehydrating between spring park laps

Mono Mount Cheatsheet

  • Easy to install on your ski poles.
  • No extra clamps or gear hanging off of your pole, or in your pocket.
  • Lighten the pack - no extra gear means less weight.
  • Super durable in all conditions as it is machined from 6061 Alloy billet, no risk of moving parts breaking like a pole-clamp style mount.
  • Film anywhere on the mountain, without having to plan to drop your poles, or carry a selfie stick, just have your camera in your pocket.
  • Perfect for skiers wanting a flexible filming platform for different angles or multiple products.

1/4 MOUNT FOR THE APOLLO FR

The 1/4 Mount is our newest addition to our camera line. Designed to live on your pole, it is also machined from 6061 aluminium, and anodised with our signature royal purple accessory colour.

The 1/4 Mount features a collapsable 1/4 inch male screw. This allows you to directly mount your Insta360 onto the top of your pole, while hiding the 1/4 inch screw when your camera isn't attached.

Even if you don't have a 360 camera, the 1/4 mount can be used to easily attach a mirrorless camera to your pole - doubling as a monopod. There are many different attachments out there that are compatible with a 1/4 inch screw, so get creative.

Extenders / Invisible Pole

The APOLLO FR is a circular grip, and disappears into the image when you are using an Inst360 or GoPro Max. This is amazing for when you want to ski and film those face shots.

If you want to level up even further, you can attach a 1/4 inch extender to your pole for next level 3rd person perspective. This can also be used when you are filming follow cams and want to get that crazy close, wide angle shot.

Ideas for Extenders:

  • Nail the invisible pole / floating camera 3rd person
  • Get super close for immersive wide angle follow cams
  • Remove the extender and Insta360 easily when it's not in use.
