ONE PLANET
Sustainability
We love the mountains, and everything that they enable. We have a series of initiatives, goals, and values that we stand by to ensure we are doing the best we can. These links will teleport you to individual sections, or scroll down to read our stance on sustainability.

We have a responsibility to protect the mountains.
As a company, and a small group of individuals, we see nothing more important than the preservation of this small rock floating around the sun. The mountains are what allow us to do we do all of the things we love. The survival of the mountains, and our business go hand-in-hand if you ask us.
Our Product Mantra
HIGHEST QUALITY & REPAIR BEFORE REPLACE.
We design products to nothing but the highest quality. By having products that go the distance and last a lifetime, the overall impact of the product is drastically reduced.
We have spare parts for all our poles & products, and we design everything in modular systems so you can repair, refurbish and replace parts as needed.
RECYCLABLE MATERIALS & END OF LIFE IMPACT.
We are constantly evaluating end of life impact when designing our products. For this reason, we use 7075 Aluminium rather than carbon in all of our poles. We know that although we wish they did, things don't last forever. We are continually looking for and testing the best materials for performance, and end of life impact.
Small company. Big Ambitions.
For an industry that is so connected to the outdoors, there is a lack of transparency when it comes to environmental impacts. We want to act on what we preach - both physically and financially, while driving meaningful change in the industry standards.
We are aiming to measure all of our business operations to really understand where we can reduce our footprint.
We aim to reduce our footprint per product each year through iteration & innovation.
Being a small fish in a big pond makes it difficult to have all of the data at our fingertips, but we do our best. Through measuring what we can and designing bespoke products from the ground up, we aim to have maximum control over our environmental impact.
In Canada, the average person is responsible for 17t of CO2e emissions per year. For FW22/23, our carbon footprint was 51t CO2e.
This calculation includes product development, raw materials, energy use for manufacture, shipping and all other associated business practices attributed with Deorum. We are in the process of acculmating our data for FW23/24.
We are taking a range of steps to continually reduce emissions.
Through measuring, accounting for and analyzing we can improve our environmental policy, and quantify a true reduction in footprint, rather than just talk about it.
Every year we aim to:
Measure and calculate our estimated overall carbon footprint using open source data for standard manufacturing emissions & ratios.
Invest in various sustainable technologies and product development processes that can help reduce emissions or lower our product's end of life impact.
Donate to various initiatives and environmental charities that can have an impact in our area.
One tree can capture 26.63kg of CO2e per year
We plant tree's in BC every year through donations to partner organisations. These initiatives are chosen to have local impact, focusing on reforestation in British Columbia.
Additional 20% CO2e offsetting
To ensure that we are carbon neutral and hopefully carbon negative, we offset our emissions by an additional 20%.
Remove 2kg of ocean plastic for every 1kg we produce
We think that the oceans are the key to a healthy planet. Through local initiatives and financing activations we aim to remove at plastic from marine environments at a minimum 2:1 ratio.
Transparency should be the norm.
We want to show total transparency in our environmental impact and initiatives, because as a consumer, you have the right to know what the true cost of your purchase is on the planet. We think that this should be industry standard, and have a firm stance that access to all corresponding data and evaluations for small businesses and consumers should be easier.
What is the cost of RAV Baskets?
You might be wondering what one set of baskets costs? This will give you insight into the cost of a product. The true cost of one pair of baskets is roughly 5.1kg CO2e.
We offset 6.1kg CO2e
Per pair of RAV Baskets
We help remove 1.2kg of plastic from coastal environments for every 10 pairs of baskets sold.
Through financial donations and local initiatives.
We face big challenges as a small business.
As a small company that is a new player to the game, we have a great opportunity to set our own environmental precedent, but this does not come without challenges.
Thanks to some friendly academics and professionals we have managed to get a generous calculation for our carbon footprint. This comprehensive analysis of our supply chain and yearly operations has given us a great start to now continually measure, reduce, and better our environmental impact.
We have quantified the Kilogram Carbon Equivalent [kg CO2e] of our annual business functions, and calculated an estimate for each product’s individual kg CO2e. These indicative measurements are intended to give an idea of cost per product, and give us a great starting point to begin data driven reductions/ process improvements.
